A star at sea

Oleg Bouevitch from Nepean, Ontario, Canada

The 2nd-magnitude star Sadr (Gamma [γ] Cygni; at right) lies awash in a sea of glowing gas and dark tendrils of dust. The most prominent dark nebula, at lower left, is cataloged as LDN 889, splitting the bright nebulae LBN 245 (far lower left) and LBN 249 (center). This imager took Hα/OIII/SII exposures of 3, 13, and 9 hours, respectively, with a 10-inch f/4.6 scope.
